Bayern Munich crowned Bundesliga champions for a record 11th time
Bayern Munich secured their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title in thrilling fashion, beating Cologne 2-0 on the final day of the season to overtake Borussia Dortmund.
It was a dramatic end to an equally dramatic season, with Bayern and Dortmund level on points going into the final match. Bayern knew they needed to win to be crowned champions, while a draw would have been enough for Dortmund.
The match was a tense affair, with both teams creating chances. However, it was Bayern who took the lead in the 45th minute through Kingsley Coman. The Frenchman latched onto a pass from Thomas Muller and fired home from close range.
Bayern doubled their lead in the 63rd minute through Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker scored his 34th goal of the season, extending his lead at the top of the Bundesliga's scoring charts. With the victory, Bayern extended their record of consecutive Bundesliga titles to 11. They have now won the title 31 times in total, more than any other team in German history.
