Police investigating
Police are investigating three suspicious car fires in Northland overnight.
Two cars were set alight outside a home in Hikurangi, southwest of Whangarei, shortly after 11pm.
Police say there was no one inside the cars at the time, and no one was injured.
A third car was set alight in Whangarei Heads at around the same time.
Police are asking for any information about the fires, which they say are being treated as arson.
"It is fortunate that no one was injured in these incidents," Northland District Commander Superintendent Tony Hill said.
"We are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious or who has any information about the fires to come forward and contact police."
